Combined odds = the product of all leg odds. The implied probability assumes every leg is fairly priced — with a real bookmaker margin on each leg, your true chance is lower.

The mathematics parlays hope you ignore

A parlay multiplies odds — and it multiplies the bookmaker's margin with them. Each leg you add compounds the built-in cost, which is why long accumulators are the most profitable product a bookmaker sells. The combined odds look enormous precisely because the combined probability is tiny.

That doesn't make every parlay wrong. It makes every leg matter: a parlay of genuinely well-priced legs preserves its value; a parlay of overpriced legs compounds the damage. You can check what any single price is worth with our margin calculator or see devigged consensus prices on the fair odds boards.

SmartBet Lab's Parlay Lab analyzes your real accumulators leg by leg — which legs carry your combos, which ones sink them, computed from your actual synced history.

Frequently asked questions

How are parlay odds calculated?

Multiply the decimal odds of every leg together. Three legs at 1.80 × 2.10 × 1.65 give combined odds of 6.24 — a 100 stake returns 624 if every leg wins, and nothing if any single leg loses.

Why do parlays lose more than the odds suggest?

Because the bookmaker margin compounds. If each leg carries a 5% margin, a three-leg parlay does not pay 5% under fair value — it pays roughly 14% under, because the margins multiply along with the odds. The more legs, the bigger the hidden tax.

Is a parlay ever a good bet?

Only if every individual leg is a good bet on its own — a positive-value price. Combining fairly-priced or overpriced legs only compounds the disadvantage. Check each leg against the fair price before combining anything.
